North India Spiritual Heritage

The North Indian temples have been constructed in the typical Nagara style architecture. The basic structure of temples in India is more or less the same throughout, and the same features are seen in the temples of the north as well. The sanctuary, which is the main part, is called the vimana. In the vimana, a small chamber called the garbhagriha or the inner sanctum where the divine emblem or image is kept. The part surmounting the vimana is known as the sikhara. The mandapa or pavilion for the assembly of devotees and the antarala which is a vestibule connecting the vimana and the mandapa, and the pradakshi-napath. According to the Nagara style, the temple structure consists of two main buildings. The main place of worship is taller and has an adjoining shorter mandapa. The key difference between these two is the shape of the sikhara. The sikhara of the temples in North India resembles an upturned cone that is decorated with miniature conical Shikharas. There are also some temples in North India which developed their own local flavor, setting aside their basic native style. In the main shrine, a bell shaped structure helps to increase the height of the temple. There is the kalasa at the top as in all Hindu temples. The ayudha or emblem of the presiding deity is also present. Fundamentally, there is no structural difference between the Hindu and the Jain temples in the North except that the need for housing the various Tirthankars dominates the disposition of space in the latter. Moreover, the Jain temples achieve their effect from the grouping together of a number of shrines on such high spaces as the hills can provide, and are characterised by an air of seclusion and aloofness.

Detail Tour Itinerary

Day 01: Delhi
Arrive at Indra Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. Upon Arrival you are welcomed and assisted by the local representative after that transfer to the hotel and your rest of day is free for leisure and overnight at the hotel.

Day 02: Delhi
Breakfast at the hotel and we start our full day tour with Old Delhi, First of all we visit Red fort after that we visit Jama Masjid and we take a rikshaw ride as well. After that we visit India gate, Raj ghat etc. In the evening we visit Kutub minar and later we come back to the hotel and overnight at the hotel.

Day 03: Delhi - Amritsar
Today we are transferred to Railway station to catch Morning fast train to Amritsar and upon arrival we are transferred to the hotel and later we Visit Wagah Border and Attend Parade ceremony and late evening we Visit famous Golden temple and Overnight at the hotel.

Day 04: Amritsar - Haridwar (overnight train)
Breakfast at the hotel and today we visit Jallianwala bagh and Golden temple in the morning and afternoon we visit bazaars of Amritsar and later we are transferred to the Railway station to catch Overnight train to Haridwar.

Day 05: Haridwar
Upon arrival, Transferred at the hotel and Later we check in at the hotel and in the afternoon we go for half day temple tour of Haridwar and later come back to the hotel and in the evening we go to Har ki Pauri and attend Aarti and later come back to the hotel and overnight at the hotel.

Day 06: Haridwar - Rishikesh
Today we drive to Rishikesh and visit Ram jhula, Laxman Jhula and other interesting places, later we come back to the hotel and in the evening we have an Option to do River rafting tour at the banks of Ganges overnight at the hotel

Day 07: Rishikesh - Mathura - Vrindavan
Breakfast at the hotel and today we drive to Mathura and check in at the hotel and in the afternoon we visit some famous temples of Mathura & Vrindavan.

Day 08: Mathura - Agra
Breakfast at the hotel and today we drive to Agra enroute we visit Sikandara tomb and later we check in at the hotel in Agra and afternoon we visit famous The Taj Mahal and Agra fort and Itmat - daullah and overnight at the hotel.

Day 09: Agra - Lucknow
Breakfast at the hotel and today we drive to Lucknow and check in at the hotel and later in the afternoon we visit bada imambada, chota imambada, and bhool - bhoolaya and Jama Masjid and overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Lucknow - Allahabad
Breakfast at the hotel and today we drive to Allahabad and check in at the hotel and in the afternoon we visit famous temples of Allahabad and in the evening we attend aarti at Sangam and overnight at the hotel.

Day 11: Allahabad - Varanasi
Breakfast at the hotel and today we drive to Varanasi and upon arrival check in at the hotel and later we visit famous temples of Varanasi and in the evening we attend aarti at Ghats of Ganges and overnight at the hotel.

Day 12: Varanasi We do early morning boat ride on Ghats of Ganges and we come back to the hotel and later we do tour of sarnath later we go for half day tour of Varanasi and Overnight at the hotel.

Day 13: Varanasi - Khajuraho
Breakfast at the hotel and later transfer to the hotel and to take a direct flight to Khajuraho and upon arrival we are transferred to the hotel and check in at the hotel, overnight at the hotel.

Day 14: Khajuraho - Orchha
Breakfast at the hotel and today we do half day tour of Khajuraho. In the morning we visit Eastern Ghats of temples and later we visit Western Ghats of temples and in the evening then we drive to Orchha and overnight at the hotel.

Day 15: Orchha - Jhansi - Delhi
Breakfast at the hotel and today we drive to Bhopal. In the afternoon, then drive for Ujjain. Reach Ujjain in the late evening & Transfer to hotel.

Day 16: Delhi - Departure
Breakfast at the hotel and today we take evening shatabadi train to New Delhi and upon arrival check in at the hotel and overnight at the hotel.
